Stickleback XXXIV:
by
Oz Hardwick

Oz Hardwick is a widely-published, international award-winning poet and a would-be musician. His previous Hedgehog publications are The Lithium Codex, Wolf Planet and The Still and Fleeting Fire (with Amina Alyal). His next full collection. A Census of Preconceptions will be published by SurVision Books in late 2022. Oz has also edited and co-edited numerous anthologies, including The Valley Press Anthology of Prose Poetry. Oz And Anne have also edited the essay collection Prose Poetry in Theory and Practice for Routledge.
Oz has been lost in music since childhood, with a particular obsession with Hawkwind (his photos have featured on a number of their album covers) and the spacier end of “progressive rock”. The poems here derive from his love of Pink Floyd. “Cymbaline (Soundtrack),” “Saucerful of Secrets / Live at Pompeii” and “Is There Anybody Out There?” were written for Live Canon’s performance of Floyd-related poems at the V&A during the Their Mortal Remains exhibition in 2017. “Is There Anybody Out There?” has previously been published in Reach Poetry and “Bricks” was published in Whirlagust 2.
Oz is one third – along with Amina Alyal and Karl Baxter – of The Forgotten Works, an experimental poetry/music/found sounds/electronics collective which has performed at a number of festivals in the north of England.
