Joan Lennon
Joan Lennon is a Canadian Scot who lives and writes in the Kingdom of Fife, with a fine view of Dundee and the silvery Tay.
Her novels for children and young people have been shortlisted for the Scottish Children’s Book Award, the Scottish Teenage Book Prize, and longlisted for the Carnegie Medal.
As a poet writing for adults, she has been published in magazines such as Gutter, New Writing Scotland, Chapman, Brittle Star, and Raum, and anthologies such as Cinnamon Press’ Journey Planner, and The Emma Press’ Anthology of the Sea, Anthology of Age, and Second Place Rosette.
Joan is inspired by collaborations with artists. The pamphlet Her Lines, My Lines (illustrated by Kyla Tomlinson) was commissioned by Bookmark Book Festival as part of her post as writer-in-residence for Perth and Kinross. Joan is also interested in the ways prose and poetry can meet. Her narrative poem Granny Garbage was published by HappenStance Press.
She is currently working on The Isle, a poetry sequence based on the voices, history and geography of Fair Isle.
