A Wallet of Creature Poems takes a look at some of the less cuddly creatures that fascinate the poet. Some poems were inspired by encounters with squirrel, pigeon and fox. Others are imaginative exploration of the voice of a Taipan snake, an Egyptian scarab beetle, and an invitation to ‘think about what creature you’d be’. One poem comes from a local advert for pet cremation where the accountant considers diversification for the business.

Sue Spiers was born in Cyprus, her father was in the R.A.F. and consequently her family moved every three years to wherever he was posted. In 2000 she started an MBA with the Open University to see if she had what it takes to complete a degree, having gone into a trainee accountancy position on completion of A levels. The MBA lead to a BA in Literature and joining the Open University Poetry Society.
