Friday Night is Fish Supper Night #20 – Ode To A Hedgehog

Since I started the Hedgehog Press, I’ve made it a point to ask people to write Hedgehog poems.

I know, I don’t get out much.

Anyway, a while ago I collected some of them together in a wee Stickleback, which as this week’s Free Friday Download, I thought I would share it with you.

Download Our Remembrance Day Tribute – Other People’s Freedoms

Looking at the preparations for today’s Remembrance Day Commemorations earlier and having spent yesterday buried in a copy of Martin Malone’s ‘The Unreturning’ – which incidentally, is a quite brilliant collection of poetry that genuinely answers the question of whether a modern writer can bring something new to war poetry – I couldn’t help but think that I should re-share the Stickleback we put out last year, ‘Other People’s Freedoms.’

Friday Night is Fish Supper Night #19 – Arfur #1

One of the biggest downers over the last year for me, was the fact that I failed dismally to cope with all of the interest there was in Arfur – our magazine, ‘A Restricted View From Under The Hedge’ and that I had to put the wee chap into hibernation.

Perhaps launching the book publishing as well as the magazine, wasn’t my brightest idea, but I’m hoping I’ll find a way to bring it back, as reading the first issue now, it was quirky, but good.

Any magazine that sees Chen Chen alongside Eileen Myles, Sophie Hannah with Victoria Richards – oh and Eileen Carney Hulme chatting to Brian Patten, can’t have been so verily bad.

So I thought I’d share the first issue and you can see what it was all about

Friday Night is Fish Supper Night #16 – The Road to Clevedon Pier

Well, blimey – what a week this has been?

So many competition questions answered (and congratulations to all who made the podium.)

Books available direct from the poets all signed and dedicated – something I’m really proud of, although I have had to give-up on the ‘Get it from a Poet’ campaign slogan as apparently nobody wants to wear that T-shirt.

All of which makes me think that we have come a long way in the last couple of years, and indeed the 18 months since we managed to release our first wee book, The Road To Clevedon Pier.

So it seemed a good time to share that special book with you all today.

Friday Night is Fish Supper Night #15 Gaynor Kane – A Hat-trick for Kane

It has been a bit of a mad old week around here, lots of plotting and planning, and even a few announcements for collections that will come out in 2020.

And I am really rather chuffed to say that this week’s Free Stickleback for you to lovingly download, is Lady Gaynor Kane’s brilliant nod toward some very brave ladies.

We are of course publishing Gaynor’s debut collection, Memory Forest (not Frost as the odd Muppet has called it)  in the near future, so this gives a wee taste of the quality of her writing before you get a chance to delve deeper.

But you probably knew that.

What you won’t have known is that I am really rather ecstatic to be able to announce that we will also be publishing Gaynor’s debut paperback, full collection in 2020.

So that is a Stickleback, a pamphlet and a  book – the holiest of trinities and henceforth to be known as Kane’s Hat-trick

(ahem, long week, sorry.)

But getting back to the Stickleback, you can download your copy, by simply clicking on the download link below:

Friday Night is Fish Supper Night #14 – Peter Francis Pegnall

Hmm, OK, after all of my boasting about how organised I’m getting, I’m a little late in introducing you to something particularly special this week, but there we are.

Anyway, this time we have a brilliant Stickleback from the unique talent that is Mr Peter Francis Pegnall and I really do hope that you enjoy it.

His collection is due soon too – just saying.

Have a lovely weekend.

Friday Night is Fish Supper Night #13 Andy Brown

I can’t quite believe that we are up to week 13 of our Friday Night Freebie Fish Suppers, but then again I don’t normally have such a work ethic or level of concentration.

This week though has definitely been worth the wait as I am proud, chuffed, made-up and otherwise astonished to be able to introduce you to this wonderful Stickleback from Mr Andy Brown.

I’ll say no more – have a fine weekend.

Friday Night is Fish Supper Night #12 Debjani Chatterjee

Well, it may be getting a wee bit darker of an evening, but we seem to be stretching our Friday Night Freebies a bit longer and I’m really pleased that this week it is something a little special from Debjani Chatterjee.

As it happens, Debjani will be the first person to have two Sticklebacks after winning a poll of our Cult members earlier this year, but you’ll have to wait a while for that one.
