These poems are powerfully evocative and slightly haunting, they bring up the uncomfortable, the lingering in-between and the tense thoughts that materialise as apparitions at nightfall when we are alone with our spirit and grief.
They occupy the liminal spaces we inhabit between the past and present and the ambiguous mind-frames that one is besieged by when approaching the threshold of light and clarity. ‘The Liminal Light of the Night’ includes the poem ‘Panacea’s Furnace’ which was an ‘Honourable Mention’ for the Dark Poets Prize, 2024.
If you would like to experience and swim in a rollercoaster torrent of emotional dark hues and to mellow out into a meaningful read just before bedtime, this pamphlet is for you.
“A profound adventure awaits those readers ready to immerse themselves in this unusually deep Little Black Book. It offers a glimpse into a highly personal look at the world and the alchemy of transformation from alienation to reconciliation, from despair to joyful wisdom, and from pain into the lightness of knowledge. Bravely and passionately written this little gem stands head and shoulders above the crowd.”
Tanja Goldberg, PHD, Performer and Writer, Published by Routledge
“This collection is a lyrical onomatopoeia of memory, melancholy and affirmative hope. With its unforced and persistent cascade of rhythm, it is reminiscent of the whispers of the heart within all of us, and nature, that lives, loves, loses and dreams again. These poems will inspire you to treasure your keepsakes and see the wounds as monuments of a powerful existence that does not owe.”
Mirjana Miric, Creator of Suburban Witchcraft Magazine, author, poet and artist
The Everlasting Exile Burglars came inside my home, It was I who let them in, They were wearing the faces of friends, I believed them to be hallowed, I soaked them with trust. They were regal and cloaked with my certitude, One of them took my heart, The other my soul. I offered them food and shelter, But they bit off my hand. Snarling, snaking, stealing, stinging - They felt no shame. I singed, fading and as embers, Still offered a threadbare peace, but they continued to steal away mine. I gave them a warm embrace, They dislocated my arms. Many years and tears have passed. I am home, but homeless. I give freely of my love but fear it may not return. This is my earth, but I recognise it not. Scorched, at night, I finally become statue still and walk on the moon. Solace, grace, eternity. It is mine.
