Well, I have to say that I am so very pleased to be able to share the cover for Jules Whiting’s new collection for Hedgehog, not least because it means that this brilliant book I have been reading for far-too-long, will now get to be seen by so many lucky readers.
Jules is a particularly special writer, and for those of us from the Working Class side of the rails, she shares memories and tells truths that will be oh-so-familiar. But it isn’t a case of ‘back in my day’, it is the feeling, the good and bad of situations, people and places that hit the hardest.
This is a great book and when pre-orders open in the next few days, you really need to be ordering from Jules. It is one to treasure.
And as ever, every mighty fine book deserves a rather cool soundtrack, and for the fettling of Jules’ words, I was mainly immersing myself in the new album from the rather brilliant Bernard Butler, Good Grief.
See what you think…
