A Little Black Book #8: “Exhibition Cards For Imaginary Paintings”

Well, I have to say that this took an unexpected turn for the cool.

Back in February, we had a Challenge for people to write a Poem describing a Painting that didn’t exist, in the form of an Exhibition Card.

The idea was that we would have an eBook of the Shortlisted poems and then print Five poems on little white cards, and we could all stick them on our walls as an imaginary gallery.

Anyway, in the end I wondered whether everybody involved would agree that it seemed a shame not to publish all of the shortlisted poems in print, and so we had a vote among the Poets, and we decided to have a Printed Book rather than the Card / eBook combo.

I know, radical or what?

Which is a long way of saying that I am pleased to be able to announce that the Shortlisted Winning Poets for this Challenge, who will be featured in our Little Black Book, are:

    1. Fiona Halliday
    2. Philippa Ramsden
    3. Amanda Jane Hill
    4. Caroline Gill
    5. Ceinwen E Cariad Haydon
    6. Phil Santus
    7. Patricia M Osborne
    8. Tina MacNaughton
    9. Liz Kendall
    10. Miriam Otto
    11. Wendy Goulstone

I’m pleased to say then that our 8th Little Black Book will be published soon as ‘Exhibition Cards for Imaginary Paintings’, which will be a good addition to the series, I  think.

Well, life would be boring if it was predictable.

Congratulations to everybody that was included, there were a crazy number of really good poems, and it didn’t exactly make my life easy.

Needless to say that whilst all of this-a-fettling was happening, there was a soundtrack to be enjoyed, and this time it was the rather brilliant Rain Tree Crow…enjoy it, dystopic pop pickers.
