Well, I’ve mentioned a couple of times that one of my Hedgehog ‘things’ for 2024 and onwards is something called ‘Deconstructed’ but without explaining what I’m talking about, which is wide-eyed and swirly mystical, but perhaps not exactly en-pointe in the clarity stakes.
There will be a few variations of this, and in truth, it is a little in the interpretation, but in simple terms I wanted to publish things, poetry collections and anthologies, in different ways. Breaking them down both in terms of the poetry, but also – and more obviously – in the way they are published.
I said before, that the poets bring their art in the shape of their words and I want Hedgehog to be bringing something too in the way it is presented that at times goes beyond the book or pamphlet form. There can be art in the form of the publication, after all.
And one of these ways, is that I really rather like the idea of a loose-limbed anthology of sorts, where we take some of the poems from an anthology, and mix them with a different discipline or artform, and then recast them as something else.

Which brings me to our first Deconstructed Postcard Anthology, with our Poems in the Key of Hope eBook anthology as a starting point.
You probably saw it, just the other day and can still of course download a copy of it for Free:

Of the 20+ poems and poets in that, I chose 5 to be included in our Postcard Anthology.
These were poems by:
-
-
- Oz Hardwick
- Eileen Carney Hulme
- Dawn Gorman
- Lesley Curwen, and
- Ceinwen E Cariad Haydon
-
From there we turned to one of my favourite Ye Olde artists, Numata Kashu and then matched a painting to each of the poems.
Taking that forward, we have created a set of artcards, featuring the artwork backed with the poem, and rather beautiful they are too.
These we are releasing as a Limited Numbered Edition Set, produced on nice card and many kinds of lovely, but more on that soon.

Beautifully matched art and poetry, an honour to be included. 🙏
These are beautiful, Mark. A wonderful idea! Congratulations to the winners!!!
