Well, personally I don’t think that you can beat a good Poetry Pamphlet Competition, and over the oh-so-many-years of running Hedgehog, I can’t help but notice that the standard seems to get higher every time, which of course makes the judges job just that little bit harder.
This competition is the perfect case in point, and in the end I genuinely couldn’t split the final two collections and decided that there would be TWO WINNERS instead of the Advertised one.
Such is life, eh?
For the record, the shortlisted poets are:
-
-
-
- Kerry Darbishire
- Oz Hardwick
- Val Ormrod (Commended)
- Sven Kretzschmar (Highly Commended)
- Isabel Miles
- Rebecca Lacey
- Paul Brookes
- Nigel Jarrett
- Luigi Marchini (Commended)
- Kate Rigby

I am pleased and proud to say that we have two winners who will see their quite brilliant collections published in 2024 by the Hog, are:
KERRY DARBISHIRE
&
OZ HARDWICK
and many thanks to everybody else that took part. This was another, ridiculously difficult competition to judge.
