A Hog Blogs: Your Opinion Matters. No, Really…

I have many things to do. In fact I was stuck in a car park earlier on – don’t ask – and I was scribbling down ideas for Cult Challenges for 2024.

I’m not proud to say it, but you can tell I was feeling sorry for myself as they were all turning into things like

“Things that people think I am really good at but that I am really not very good at”

and

“1001 ways to apologise for being late”

…and it struck me that I should just read something instead, something that never fails to cheer me up, inspires me and generally makes me feel good about the world.

But what? I was stuck in a car park (literally. Which was not a good thing, it was a bit on the whiffy side, with a last-night-at-Glastonbury-toilet-queue vibe) and so just went and looked for a Stickleback on this web site, and found an old friend in Jeremy Reed’s one he did for us. I do love it rather lots.

Anyway, I read it (and you can too Here if you want to see what I mean) and what struck me was that it is still brilliant, but that nobody had ever done a review for it on our web site.

I couldn’t believe it, it is stunning and not one person out of the hundreds and hundreds who have downloaded it, or bought a print copy from Jeremy or got one in a Cult box back in the day had ever felt a yearning to share their thoughts with the world.

It felt bizarre.

So I looked at all of the Sticklebacks and most of our titles and it was the same story – nobody ever left reviews.

And I couldn’t work out why so I had a look and to be honest it took me a minute to notice that to leave a Review wasn’t as easy as it should be – you have to click on the word REVIEWS below the picture on the product page to reveal the form that let’s you leave some words.

It is pretty much a WordPress hidden page thing that you have to click on…and so I realised it is entirely my fault as I don’t actually point people at them. Not that I am technically equipped to change the non-descriptness of it all, but the links I give people can be different – a trick I missed.

In future I will, and I’m going to do something crazy magical to help people discover the Sticklebacks and books and pamphlets we publish better – but that is for another day.

So, if you have a wee minute – please do me a favour.

If you download Jeremy’s Stickleback, when you have had a read, and a ponder too, if you need one – would you please, please and pretty please, leave a wee review or comment on the web site for me?

It doesn’t have to say much, just something at all would be truly magical.

There, maybe that will remove the stench from my schnozz
