A Hog Blogs: Sometimes, You Just Need To Change

Sam Szanto

Well, yesterday saw me fiddling with one collection, which is brilliant but for some reason is taking a while. I don’t really understand why, but however hard I try, I keep messing things up.

Which is annoying, although as most people will tell you, not exactly unheard of.

But it does bug me, I don’t know why that is, some days and projects just hang that way for a while and I’ve learned over time that you just have to walk away for a wee bit and let your brain stop fizzing and generally – just – chill.

So, in the interests of such a chilling, I put some music on and decided to do something else.

Of course the ‘doing something else’ idea inevitably involved fettling a different book, but there we are, I didn’t say it made sense in a wider way.

But that is what I did, I changed tack and like a child brought up on ‘Why Don’t You’ I did something else instead, and as it happened it worked perfectly.

Annie Cowell

So today I am pleased to say that I generally fettled the brilliant poetic conversation, Splashing Pink which is a poemchat between the awesome Sam Szanto and the equally awesome Annie Cowell.

That is the trouble with Conversations, you never know who is the more awesome, so it is lucky it is joint endeavours.

Anyway, this one will be out and about soon and the cover will be shining from this very page tomorrow, but I am so pleased with it and even though it is a little nonsensical to say it, I am generally energised to go back to the one I was struggling with and I just know it will work out fine.

As for today’s music-to-typeset-by recommendation or recognition or whatever it is, I have to say that I had a lovely time listening to the quite brilliant Aldous Harding. whilst I was fettling Splashing Pink.

This, her album ‘Party,’  was the first record I heard from the lady six or seven years ago, and I still must play it every couple of weeks.

Her new one is pretty swish too, it has to be said.
