A Hog Blogs: A Challenging Result Involving Yeats and Hobnobs

One of the best of all things, as far as Hedgehog goes, is reading the submissions for our Monthly Writing Challenges, that are set for members of our Cult of the Spiny Hog.

The idea behind them is that people get a bit of a push to write something and maybe sometimes try something a little different to their WIP.

Anyway, earlier this year we ran one such Challenge, and I’m pleased and merrily chuffed today to have selected the winners and in an unlikely fit of organisational surprise, have even pulled the anthology together.

This normally takes me months, so look surprised as I certainly am.

In truth I am catching-up and there will be a number of anthologies in the nearest of futures, some from before this one and some since, but I thought I would mix it up and there we are.

So Eating Dark Chocolate Hobnobs With W.B. Yeats will be released as a Free to Download eBook on the 1st of August 2023 and I think you will agree with me that it is many kinds of swish.

As for the Winning Poets who will see their work featured:

            1. Oz Hardwick
            2. Phil Santus
            3. Chris Hemingway
            4. Caroline Gill
            5. Kate Young
            6. Mick Yates
            7. Margaret Royall
            8. Karen Francis
            9. Patricia M Osborne
            10. Catherine Heighway
            11. Sue Lewis
            12. Annie Cowell

Congratulations all!

I guess it is a little early to call this traditional, but for the record, whilst I’ve been typesetting this wee Stickleback, tonight I was listening to a brilliant album from the rather fantastic Wolf Alice from a couple of years ago, called Blue Weekend which is well worth a listen if they are new to you…
