I promise that despite being a fat old white male with all the self-regard and privilege that brings, I do in fact have just enough self-awareness to realise that my writing a blog that repeatedly talks about what I am doing is probably not going to be that interesting very often. And that is OK, you don’t have to read it.
But I think I’ll keep at it for a while, not least because it allows me to tell you that I’ve been working on the rather awesome and generally lovely Julie Stevens’ new collection Step Into The Dark which will also be coming to a shelf near you in the soonerest of times if you are very good and, well, send Julie some pennies at some point.
And I do mean that you should send Julie – and everybody we publish – pennies direct to their piggy banks to get your copy, because that is the whole point – creatives get paid and then can eat enough to create again. Just an old fashioned thought, it’ll never catch on.
Incidentally, you can still download Julie’s Stickleback [download id=”17848″]
In the meantime, and as for some reason people found it interesting last time, for the record I should state that whilst fettling Julie’s collection I was in fact listening to the equally brilliant Peter Kember’s (aka Sonic Boom) latest album, at least I think it is the latest, All Things Being Equal.
I’ve always loved his work – he founded Spacemen 3 with Jason Pierce (of Spiritualized fame) – and if you don’t remember Spacemen 3 they are worth a listen, and the greatest concert I ever saw was his band Spectrum in a sweaty club in Birmingham, once upon a long ago, and it is definitely music that breathes, for me. But there we are, music to typeset by, part two. I should print T Shirts.

I’m loving these blogs, Mark, and I can’t wait to have Julie’s latest collection on my bookshelf. Keep it up! You’re doing brilliant work. We poets really appreciate you.
