Well, it is all about the Limited Print Editions of the next twelve months’ Sticklebacks this week – the first shoal of five has arrived from the printer and is skittering off to the poets (from whom you can buy them in due course) – and then the next ‘bunch’ will hopefully be off to the inky fingered chaps this week too.
It is all go here in Hogland, apart from when it isn’t, and all of these will appear as eBooks over the next year, but for the foreseeable, the only place you can read them is direct from the poet.
I do so love the colours of the wee Sticklebacks though and when we started to make them, I liked the idea that they would all have the colour of old cars (and if I am honest, guitars) and so far we have produced quite a fair few of them.
This wonderful example from Jules Whiting & Vic Pickup, for instance, has Ford’s “Sea Sprite” from 1954/55 as the ‘tint’ throughout. A lovely shade of blue, I think you’ll agree and one that was only available for a short time, back in the day.
Because when I caught up on the rest of the lady’s site, I couldn’t help but notice that her new ‘Fridge is also a very similar colour, and now I am left wondering whether it should say Hotpoint on the back of the Stickleback, rather than Ford.
Maybe it says more about my brain, who knows.
Whatever the reason for the colour though, Jules and Vic’s poetry is stunning in this wee collection, and it will seriously make you think, so well worth investing in a copy, I think.
“What colour is my brain?” – the Stickleback based on the Fridge, probably, is available from Jules & Vic is available HERE
A Conversation and a Stickleback – many kinds of wonderful.
